Otranto, 1480. The poor peasant Kalinifta struggles to find happiness between the love of the young fisherman Trifone and the seduction of the charismatic prince Gedik Pasha, an Ottoman officer.

While the young fisherman Trifone asks her to marry him, prince Gedik invites her to dinner on his galleon. Kalinifta, attracted by the prince’s sumptuous life, accepts the invitation.

And in fact he offers her all his wealth and the salvation of his people but, in exchange, asks her to convert to Islam.

The difficult choice will force Kalinifta to break with all her emotional ties and her people will be the scene of a bloody war that will mark the history of the world and that still today hides unsolved mysteries. And will love be enough for salvation?
